Great Night
17 02 2008So, it was a great night at our youth meeting. I talked about John 15:1-8 and had some new insights through my friend Johnny. I have always been frustrated with teachings I have heard on that passage. “Remain in me” Yeah right. That’s easy. Never have I actually heard anyone say how to do that. Tonight, I learned why. It’s not in that passage. That analogy of the vine is more a statement of the obvious. It isn’t a formula for bearing fruit. Instead it is a analogy for what our lives look like when we do “remain in him”.
Johnny is a counselor. He talks about how he sees clients that are in addictions or patterns in life that are trying to get their felt needs met. Getting those needs met through any source other than God always leads to problems and often addictions. So tonight I talked about going to God with our needs. Not the needs that we feel so much, but the created needs that he gave us so that we would need to rely on him.
We had a great crowd tonight, and I love my leaders. They are right there with me.
Basically, I just feel blessed to have to ministry that God is growing at St. Peter’s.
