Here is aother one for some people who work in youth ministry. This is an older book written in 1990, but don’t let that stop you. While I wouldn’t recommend this book to everyone, if you work with teens and want to become more effective at seeing where they are and using that knowledge to help them, then this book will help you.

Warning - This book is not a lite read. It is full research and statistics that will make you feel like you are reading a barna update. Don’t let that scare you because the information is useful and will benefit you and your staff if you share it with them. It is also a great resource to point others to who don’t quite understand why your doing what you are doing (like your sr. pastor).

While the emphasis in the title is nurture, the book really shows what teens are really thinking and seeing and gives you a perspective that will help you understand them. Because of that, this would also be a great training resource for small group leaders.

If you’re in youth ministry for the long haul, this will be a resource that you will probably refer to often.
