Why are you afraid of process?

26 04 2006

Seth’s Blog: Why are you afraid of process? I just read a great article by Seth Godin. He talks about how people are apt to loath the process over straight intuition. People would much rather come up with a new idea on how to manage inventory than just count the prodact and write a report. Seth Says:

If process makes you nervous, it’s probably because it threatens your reliance on intuition. Get over it. The best processes leverage your intuition and give it room to thrive.

What is interesting to me about it is how it relates to process ministry. This affirms my thoughts on people and why they aren’t usually committed to a process. They would much rather go for the big miraculous change over the steady process of ministry. Especially when it comes to the mundane. Check it out for more.

I seems to me all life is is the process. Those who dislike process just might end up disliking life.

Maybe that’s why a lot of people (Christians) hate their life. Sounds pretty true, unfortunately.

Agreed. I actually post quite a bit about process on my blog for the very reason that ministry leaders are often too busy doing to determine why and how to do it right. Beyond that, a process helps us to reproduce ourselves, keeping us from just piling on more work and not getting those things done that we are called to do.

Important Question: If God called me to a new ministry today, could I respond by allowing my apprentice leader(s) take over for me tomorrow?

James, I really like your blog. I glad to know other people out there are thinking some of the same thoughts. Maybe I’m not crazy. Thanks for commenting.
