The Center for Parent and Youth Understanding just released a new focus on teens going to college called the College Transition Initiative. It is an effort to help teens and their parents with the difficult transition into college. They have even started a blog run by Derek Melleby that features news of note to those struggling with that transition. The first article I saw has a picture of a girl in underwear in a somewhat provocative pose with the headline “Freshmen Girls - Get Them While Their Skinny.” The writer of the blog is of course outraged by this blatant slam on most freshmen girl’s sensitivity to the frshmen fifteen. This commentary on body image in freshmen girls is exactly to type of problems that come about in the first year of college. Read more at the previous links.
